Director - Cyber & Information Security Officer

Doug King is Rappahannock Electric Cooperative’s (REC) Director – Cyber & Information Security Officer. In this role, Doug assesses security risks and determines security needs, implements security policies and security control functions, promotes security awareness, and strengthens REC’s cybersecurity program.

With over 25 years of experience, throughout his career he has provided hands-on leadership within various teams. He has managed defensive and offensive security teams, counter threat intelligence teams, and incident response teams. He has collaborated with US federal agencies as well as other private organizations, large and small, around the world. Doug also enjoys public speaking and has given talks on behalf of the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS), multiple critical infrastructure owners as well as NRECA’s TechAdvantage conferences.

Doug holds multiple industry certification in security leadership, security incident response, security controls and frameworks, and penetration testing. He holds an AS in Computer Information Systems. Doug is also a listed inventor on cybersecurity patents.

Prior to REC, Doug was Vice President of Security Services at QOMPLX from 2019 – 2022. From 2003 – 2019, Doug was a Cyber Architect Sr. Staff with Lockheed Martin Energy. He also enjoys mentoring the next generation of security practitioners and supporting the local public schools.
